Adenomyosis and Endophol

Adenomyosis is an enigmatic uterine condition, defined as the presence of endometrial glands and stroma within the myometrium. It affects many women of reproductive age and is a contributing factor to pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, and infertility. Adenomyosis is defined as the presence of endometrial glands and stroma within the myometrium. Current treatment options for adenomyosis include mainly drug and surgical therapy. Drug therapy is mainly associated with the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and hormonal drugs. However, these drugs may cause adverse effects when used for the long-term treatment of adenomyosis such as nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal reactions, abnormal liver and kidney function, gastric ulcers, and thrombosis. Although adenomyosis lesions can be surgically removed, affecting uterine function, the disease has a high recurrence rate after surgical resection. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop alternative or additional therapies for the treatment of adenomyosis. Polyphenols a) Quercetin is not only an effective and promising herbal preparation for the treatment of adenomyosis but also a safe agent for normal endometrium, quercetin could inhibit the

proliferation, migration and invasion of endometrial cells into the myometrium. b) Resveratrol is the most potent phytoalexin that could slow the progression of adenomyosis and reduce myometrial fibrosis. In conclusion, resveratrol may be a potential compound for the treatment of patients with adenomyosis.
